The 3rd GBI Exchange of Experience workshop takes place in Sydney, Australia, on September 14-15, 2018

Building on the outcome from the two previous Exchange of Experience (EoE) workshops in Heidelberg (2016) and Bangalore (2017), this year’s workshop in Sydney will bring together even more partners and interested delegates from the continuously growing GBI network, including representatives from Australia, Argentina, Canada, Europe, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa and the United States. The EoE workshops seriesis intended as an international communication and collaboration platform for imaging infrastructure operators including managers, directors, technical staff as well as scientists, opinion leaders, decision makers and funders.

This year, we aim to discuss and decide on the continuation of GBI beyond the current H2020 project funding, which will end later this year. Already in Bangalore, GBI partners and associated partners declared that they wish to continue the GBI network, for their facility staff’s networking and international cooperation, for supporting reciprocal use of infrastructure services in the future, and for finding common solutions for common challenges (such as quality management of facilities, open access to image data, opportunities for ‘train the trainer’, and many more topics). In Sydney, they will decide on concrete common activities for the coming 2-3 years and draft a detailed plan for a sustainable GBI network. The presentation of the sustainability plan to the national funders will take place both on the occasion of the meeting itself and afterwards, during more in-depth discussions.

In the second half of the EoE III workshop, international experts will present best practices in quality management for imaging facilities. During a panel session, a dedicated GBI working group will invite all participants for their contribution, to develop an international recommendation for quality management in imaging facilities.

The detailed program of the event is available for download at the bottom of the page.
