Preparatory Phase (2010-2013)

During the Preparatory Phase, Euro-BioImaging will develop a plan to construct and operate a set of complementary and strongly interlinked infrastructure facilities appropriately distributed across the European member states and assure the commitment of future partners by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. The funding of the Preparatory Phase will be allocated to management, meeting, and travel costs as well as for proof-of-concept-studies on access models for the different imaging technologies.

The preparatory phase of Euro-BioImaging aims to:

  • Define the needs of the biomedical imaging user communities
  • Prepare the plans for construction and operation of infrastructure facilities
  • Develop a plan for harmonized/standardized access to imaging technologies
  • Develop a plan for harmonized/standardized training curricula in imaging technologies
  • Develop a plan for image data management, storage and processing
  • Define the legal and governmental framework for the construction and operational phase
  • Develop a finance plan to support construction and operation
  • Based on the legal framework and finance plan develop an overall business plan
  • Integrate Euro-BioImaging into the European and global research infrastructure landscape

The plan for infrastructure deployment will be developed according to the strongly interlinked work of 13 defined Working Groups.
