WP6: Advanced Light Microscopy - General Access

The Working Group Advanced Light Microscopy – General Access aims to create a widely distributed and strongly coordinated infrastructure for ALM - General Access.
To address this need at the pan-European level, the WG will:
  • Create a distributed infrastructure for General Access for high-end ALM imaging providing access to a broad range of imaging methods to visiting scientists
  • Provide harmonized access protocols and unified training platforms
  • Promote the standardization and adoption of new imaging resources into the repertoire the infrastructure ALM - General Access.
  • Sponsor and provide ALM training programmes directed to end-users as well as to facility staff members
  • Act to create a network able to direct users to the identification of the correct technology for their specific problem and to its appropriate use.
  • Identify a set of eligibility criteria as a pre-condition for inclusion in the distributed infrastructure of ALM.
  • Carry out feasibility studies to demonstrate that access is possible and needed by the community.
  • Define a network of national coordinators who will meet with scientists, representatives of funding bodies and any other stakeholders in their home nations, represent their requirements and concerns at WG coordination meetings.
