Tech Exchange with Thermo Fisher Scientific

When

June 20, 2025 14:00–14:30 CEST

Presented by

Rosy Manser

We welcome Rosy Manser, from our Industry Board member Thermo Fisher Scientific, for a presentation on "Cryo-ET at the Core: Empowering Native-State Imaging for the Cell Biology Community".

Abstract:

Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) enables 3D visualization of cellular structures, proteins, and biomolecular complexes in their native state, providing new understanding of molecular organization. Recent studies – such as one visualizing the native structures and organization of several major mitochondrial complexes – demonstrate how shared cryo-ET datasets can uncover structural mechanisms that shape cellular function. This talk will showcase some of the exciting biological insights emerging from cryo-ET and discuss the pivotal role that imaging facilities can take in enabling them. We'll highlight how the Thermo Fisher microscope portfolio enables an end-to-end tomography pipeline - bringing cryo-ET within reach of more scientists than ever before.
