As image data management is gaining ever more importance, Peter Zehetmayer, from our EBIB member Telight, will present on "Data Processing where it matters".

Abstract

The exponential growth of biological imaging data driven by advancements in techniques like light sheet or multiplex microscopy presents significant challenges for researchers. Traditional methods rely on transferring massive datasets away from the instrument to the cloud or distributed analysis workstations. These workflows are plagued by slow transfer speeds, high bandwidth costs, security concerns, and delays that hinder real-time feedback on experiments.

This presentation argues for a fundamental shift towards central local processing as a critical solution, addressing existing limitations at the root.  Local data handling utilising edge computing principles enables instant access to raw data, facilitating real-time feedback for iterative experiments and dramatically accelerates the scientific discovery process.

This workflow not only streamlines current ways of working but also paves the way for future advancements in high-resolution imaging and data analysis.
