The 2026 volumeEM Technology Forum will be hosted by Peking University in Beijing, China from October 11-15, 2026.

The Forum will bring together the global vEM community to explore advances in life and materials sciences and to showcase the latest innovations in microscope platforms, specimen preparation, correlative imaging, automation, and AI-driven software development. The program will feature technical talks, posters, panels, challenge sessions, and live demonstrations of cutting-edge hardware and software tools. The annual vEM Town Hall will also take place during this meeting, with both in-person and remote access available for this session. 

The confirmed plenary speaker is Thomas Deerinck of the National Center for Microscopy and imaging Research, University of California San Diego, USA. Keynote speakers include Yoshi Kubota (National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Japan); Michele Darrow (Rosalind Franklin Institute, UK); Ji Wei (Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China); and Hua Yunfeng (Shanghai University School of Medicine, China).

Challenge panel sessions will cover the following topics:

  • What is vEM?
  • Big Data, Big Problems

A number of travel bursaries are available for early career researchers and attendees with longer journeys. These can be requested during the registration process. Help with visa letters is also available, though can take some time, so please register soon if you need one. If you have any questions, please email us. 

Please note that space is limited, and we encourage you to register before July 15 to receive early bird rate. Paper awards, poster awards and image competition awards will be presented during the meeting.
