The European Commission (EC) Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) has recognised the AI4Life project, coordinated by Euro-BioImaging, for its achievements, selecting it as a success story on the DG RTD website. This highlights AI4Life’s relevance and significant impact on AI-powered bioimage analysis in Europe.
The efforts of the AI4Life project consortium to make AI-powered bioimage analysis accessible to all, through open calls supporting scientists to community-driven initiatives, have been recognised with this milestone.

Dorothea Dörr, scientific project manager at the Euro-BioImaging Seat, who oversees the AI4Life project management, gives her perspective on working within a large international consortium and building bridges between life scientists and computer scientists “It’s been a privilege to work on the AI4Life project and see how collaboration between scientists from different fields can lead to real, impactful outcomes. It’s exciting to know that we’re helping make AI tools more accessible for researchers to use in their work. Being highlighted by the EC is really a reflection of the hard work and commitment from the whole team.”

Beatriz Serrano-Solano, AI4Life’s communication, outreach and coordination coordinator and scientific project manager at Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub, drives the community initiatives and outreach & communications surrounding AI4Life explains what a joy it has been to work with the community and the impact on the ground that she sees “AI4Life is a wonderful community of researchers from diverse backgrounds working together to make AI-powered bioimage analysis more accessible. This recognition from the European Commission is not just about the technologies and services we provide; it also acknowledges the dedication of our community to sharing knowledge and training other scientists. AI4Life is a project by scientists, for scientists, and that’s something you can feel in every aspect of our work.”
