Congratulations to the successful applicants in the EVOLVE Call for Event Proposals!

Published August 1, 2025

Within the framework of the EVOLVE Project, Euro-BioImaging aims to raise awareness of imaging technologies, international collaboration, and Euro-BioImaging overall at Nodes’ hosting institutions.  With the first EVOLVE Call for Event Proposals, we invited our Nodes to help us organise strategic events focusing on raising awareness of imaging and Euro-BioImaging via events that are tailored to the general public. Here are the results.

A challenging selection

We received 10 highly competitive applications from 10 different Nodes in the first Open Call. The Selection Committee, composed of three Hub team members and three Scientific Ambassadors, graded the applications based on three criteria-oriented pillars. The first was the event’s relevance to the general public target audience. The second was the events’ qualitative impact, or its ability to raise awareness of imaging in the local communities and the general alignment with the objectives of EVOLVE, including a consideration for geographic diversity. The third criteria pillar was the event’s quantitative impact, an assessment of the amount of funds requested in relation to the event’s planned impact. A bonus point was given if the local press would be involved in the event to raise awareness.

Two winning events

We are delighted to announce that the first winning proposal came from the Portuguese BIN Node (hosting institute, ICNAS) in Coimbra, Portugal. The event is called “Night at ICNAS: an evening of imaging and discovery,” and it will take place in July 2026. The second winning proposal came from France-BioImaging Node, hosting institute Montpellier Ressources Imagerie (MRI) facility, CNRS, in Montpellier, France, for an event entitled “Life is Beautiful!” – Promoting Bioimaging through Public Engagement Events in Occitanie,” that will take place in Autumn 2025. A more detailed description of the selected events will be available soon.

Don’t miss the next Open Call!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this Open Call! We truly wish we could support all of the excellent proposals that were submitted. We invite all our Node colleagues to stay tuned for the second EVOLVE Call for Event Proposals, which we expect to open in mid-October 2025. This call will support events with a focus on the scientific research community at our Node hosting institutions. The second call will support events taking place until the end of 2026.
