Euro-BioImaging at Data Stewardship goes Germany 2025
Karlsruhe, Germany. From September 30 to October 1, Euro-BioImaging was proud to participate in Data Stewardship goes Germany 2025 (DSgG 2025). This annual event brings together data stewards, managers, and research data professionals to share practical solutions and best practices around research data management in a collaborative workshop.
The annual workshop ‘Data Stewardship goes Germany’ took place this year from September 30 to October 1 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. It brought together data stewards, managers, and research data professionals across Germany in a collaborative workshop format. The event's theme was Data Stewardship in Day-to-Day Research Activities – Use Cases and Best Practices highlighting practical approaches to research data management.

Building a Collaborative Future
The agenda combined plenary talks, poster sessions, and small-group interactive workshops, providing opportunities to exchange actionable solutions and shared real-world challenges in supporting reproducible and sustainable data stewardship across domains. Isabel Kemmer, Euro-BioImaging’s FAIR Image Data Steward , actively participated in the discussions and presented Euro-BioImaging’s FAIR Data Toolkit with a poster, spotlighting our multifaceted approach to promoting FAIR data across the community.
“At this conference our work as data stewards truly came to life; it was inspiring to see how everyone shares a genuine commitment to supporting researchers with their data.”
Isabel Kemmer, FAIR Image Data Steward, Euro-BioImaging
Workshops on Roles and Community Building
Interactive workshops addressed important aspects of data stewardship and highlighted the need to sustain a data stewardship community. How Many Data Stewards Do We Need? Let’s Talk Roles, Capacity, and Reality focused on clarifying data steward roles and workload considerations. Meanwhile, Data Stewards, let’s work together: Shaping a living Community emphasized fostering ongoing collaboration and engagement within the data stewardship community. These sessions highlighted the shared responsibility and evolving nature of data stewardship roles.
“What really stood out for me was the strong sense of community across all domains. Although different research areas handle data differently, the common goal of making data FAIR unites us.”
Isabel Kemmer, FAIR Image Data Steward, Euro-BioImaging
The conference proceedings from DSgG 2025, featuring extended versions of presentation and poster abstracts and insights from the workshops, will be published soon to share with the wider research data community. Many thanks to the hosts and organisers for a dynamic conference that brought together data stewards across disciplines! We are looking forward to next year’s edition.
