Euro-BioImaging at TiM2025: Sharing Knowledge and Celebrating Open Data

Published June 18, 2025

This spring, three members of the Euro-BioImaging Hub team participated in the Trends in Microscopy 2025 (TiM2025) conference, held from March 17–21 in Münsingen, Germany. Organised by German BioImaging, TiM2025 is a leading event for the microscopy community, emphasising hands-on workshops, data management, and the latest advances in microscopy.

Active Engagement and Knowledge Exchange

The Euro-BioImaging Hub team contributed actively to the event by leading and attending workshops, presenting a poster, and engaging in insightful discussions with the community. Key topics included FAIR data and data stewardship, the OME-Zarr file format, and global data sharing and interoperability.

Euro-BioImaging congratulates the TiM2025 organisers and participants on collecting an impressive 2.6 TB of imaging data, a large proportion of which has been made publicly available in OMERO in line with the conference's commitment to promoting open science practices.

In addition, the materials used by Euro-BioImaging Hub members to conduct workshops at TiM2025 are now also freely available online. These resources are designed to support independent, ongoing learning and enable others to organise similar workshops, thereby spreading the expertise and collaborative spirit fostered at the conference even further.

Lasting impact: Networking and Community Spirit

Beyond the technical sessions, the conference provided an excellent platform for networking. The Euro-BioImaging representatives connected with fellow researchers, infrastructure providers, and industry partners, strengthening collaborations and sharing insights from across Europe. The dynamic and collegial atmosphere on the Swabian Alb turned TiM2025 into a truly enjoyable experience for all participants, as well as a valuable learning opportunity. Euro-BioImaging is proud to support these efforts and looks forward to continued collaboration within the imaging community.
