In the latest edition of Euro-BioImaging’s EVOLVE Mentoring Masterclass series, Dr. Daphna Link-Sourani brought a wealth of experience, insight, and authenticity to a powerful session on leadership, facility management, and career balance in medical imaging.
As manager of the Technion Human MRI Research Center, Daphna has played a key role in developing a state-of-the-art imaging facility from the ground up. With over a decade of experience in MRI research and hands-on work with MRI systems, she brings deep technical and strategic expertise to the field.
From the very start, Daphna reframed leadership not as a matter of hierarchy or visibility, but as a quiet, consistent commitment to purpose. Whether it’s securing ministry approvals, designing educational initiatives, or managing crisis moments, her approach is grounded in strategic clarity and empathy.
Her message resonated with many in the EVOLVE Mentoring Team 2025 cohort audience, especially early-career scientists navigating the dual demands of technical excellence and personal well-being.
Daphna offered a detailed and practical look into what it takes to build and run a human MRI facility - from the logistics of installation and operating procedures, to team building and user engagement.
Her advice was both pragmatic and profoundly human:
In one of the most personal parts of the session, Daphna spoke openly about life phases, emotional resilience, and the importance of taking real breaks - not just “time management” - after major life events.
Productivity is emotional and sometimes a short, focused hour is worth more than a long, draining day.”
For the Mentoring Team, many of whom juggle caregiving roles, demanding projects, and academic transitions, this acknowledgment felt both grounding and empowering.
