For years, the Campus Festival has been much more than one of Hungary's largest music and cultural events. Alongside concerts and performances, the University Square in Debrecen (Egyetem tér) has become a vibrant meeting place where science meets society. This year's festival attracted more than 120,000 visitors, welcoming prospective university students, families, alumni and international students. Inspired by this year's "Radiate Positivity" theme, the Euro-BioImaging Medical and Preclinical Imaging Node Hungary, with the support of the Institute of Isotopes Co. Ltd., invited visitors to step into the world of radiopharmaceutical development and production through a series of hands-on activities designed for all ages.

Rather than simply learning about radiopharmaceuticals, participants were invited to experience how they are made. For a few minutes, every visitor became a radiopharmaceutical scientist. Before taking on the role of a radiopharmaceutical producer, however, first they had to prove one essential skill: precision. A classic buzz wire game challenged players to demonstrate the steady hand required for delicate laboratory work. Their journey then began with a moving model illustrating how a cyclotron produces medical radioisotopes. From there, participants explored the next stages of the production process through a radiopharmaceutical synthesis module, discovering how radioisotopes are incorporated into molecules to create radiopharmaceuticals used in modern molecular imaging and patient care. Visitors also got the opportunity to operate a remote manipulator, the type of equipment routinely used for the safe handling of radioactive materials.
Those who completed the challenge received small gifts provided jointly by the Institute of Isotopes and the Euro-BioImaging Hungary Node, leaving with not only souvenirs, but also a greater appreciation of the science behind nuclear medicine.

One of the programme's greatest successes was its ability to engage visitors of every generation. Children discovered science through play, while high school students, prospective university applicants and adults were eager to learn more about radiopharmaceutical development, molecular imaging and the role of nuclear medicine in modern healthcare, biomedical research and drug development.

The interactive format also created opportunities for conversations between researchers and visitors. From questions about PET and SPECT imaging to discussions on radiopharmaceutical production and career opportunities in imaging sciences, the stand became a place where curiosity, expertise and enthusiasm came together naturally.
The collaboration between the Euro-BioImaging Medical and Preclinical Imaging Node Hungary and the Institute of Isotopes is built on many years of shared commitment to advancing nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceutical innovation and healthcare. Bringing this partnership to Campus Festival provided an excellent opportunity to showcase not only the technologies themselves, but also the dedicated people whose expertise transforms scientific discoveries into clinical solutions.
