RTI Summit 2025 in Copenhagen
On October 22-23, we were proud to represent European imaging excellence at the Research and Technology Infrastructure (RTI) Summit 2025, hosted by the Danish EU Presidency in Copenhagen. The summit brought together politicians, funding bodies and RTI professionals to discuss how Europe can strengthen its research and innovation landscape through coordinated, long-term strategies.
Together with the Life Science Research Infrastructure (LS-RI) community, fellow European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs), RTI colleagues, key stakeholder organisations, industry representatives, and experts, the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) and European Commission representatives, we contributed to discussions on how European Research Infrastructures (RIs) drive innovation, collaboration, and competitiveness.

Euro-BioImaging’s contribution
We were delighted that Euro-BioImaging ERIC Director General Prof. John Eriksson delivered the keynote on Pharma and Biotechnology, highlighting how Research Infrastructures serve as powerful engines for life sciences innovation and societal benefit. Prof. Eriksson shared the stage with colleagues Anna Sandström (AstraZeneca), Michael O'Donohue (INRAE/IBISBA) Björn Walse (Saromics) alongside Ed Mitchell (ESRF), who moderated the session.
The Euro-BioImaging team was also represented by Bio-Hub Director and ERIC Forum Chair Antje Keppler, who represented the ERIC Forum at the Announcement of new ERICs ceremony, Anne-Charlotte Joubert, Ilari Pulli, and our Node colleague Clara Prats, contributing to discussions on how RIs and Euro-BioImaging support innovation, competitiveness, and resilience in the European Research Area.

Collaboration and impact
At the RTI Summit, we highlighted the crucial role of Research Infrastructures as enablers of open science, innovation and competitiveness – building bridges between academia, industry and policy to secure Europe’s leadership in research and technology. Europe can only be globally competitive with sustained long-term strategic RI investments, and dedicated funding for access to RI services for researchers from academia and industry.

Looking ahead
As the European Commission advances its Life Science Strategy and implements the Research and Technology Infrastructure Strategy, Euro-BioImaging will continue to play a key role. It showcases how shared, cross-border access to imaging excellence accelerates innovation, research and development across academia and industry. This drives scientific breakthroughs and strengthens Europe’s innovation capacity as an integral part of innovation ecosystems. It delivers tangible benefits for health, sustainability and society as a whole, while also contributing to Europe’s resilience by strengthening regional innovation capacity through its distributed model.
