Resin Electron Microscopy Workshop

Training
Date: 2024-03-05 to 2024-03-08

The 4 day workshop organized by our Dutch Correlative Light Electron Microscopy flagship Node in collaboration with Leica Microsystems is meant for people that do not have experience with standard preparation techniques for transmission electron microscopy. This workshop is primarily practical in nature, although some topics will be dealt with in lectures. The entire procedure from (live) specimen till stained ultrathin resin section will be covered from start to finish. If you participate most of the time will be spent in the lab working with standard specimens like cultured cells or tissues. Besides embedding in a resin and managing the ultra-microtome, the preparation of tools and other necessities will be covered.

We provide an excellent learning environment. When manual skills like ultrathin sectioning of resin blocks are being trained the participants will have their own ultra-microtome (often equipped with a camera) to practice on. The number of participants is limited to 12 people. We will provide you with a practical manual covering the topics of the course.

The preliminary program and a more elaborate list of topics that are addressed in this course can be found here.
