We are delighted to announce that Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub Director Antje Keppler has been elected to the EOSC Association Board of Directors, alongside Enrique Bernal-Delgado, Head of the Data Science for Health Services and Policy Research group at the Institute for Health Sciences in Aragon (IACS) and Jessica Lindvall, Deputy Head of ELIXIR-Sweden Node and Head of Training at SciLifeLab Training Hub, at the 12th General Assembly of the EOSC Association.
Contributions to EOSC Association
Euro-BioImaging has been an active member of the EOSC Associationsince 2021, participating in multiple Task Forces and related Working Groups, and acting as a Mandated Organization on behalf of the ERIC Forum in 2022-2023. Additionally, as part of the first wave of EOSC Nodes in the EOSC Federation, Euro-BioImaging is partnering with Elixir, Instruct and EMBL, to form the Life Sciences Connect Nodewhich will bring Life Sciences relevant data and services into the EOSC.
We are proud that Antje Keppler has been elected to the EOSC Association Board of Directors, allowing us to strengthen our support of the EOSC and contributing to setting open science policy priorities at a very crucial time for EOSC.
“I have had the privilege of fostering European collaborations at the intersection of research infrastructures, data, and policy — precisely the ecosystem that underpins the success of EOSC. I will bring this experience to the table in my new role on the EOSC-A Board of Directors"

Connecting community priorities with EU-decision making
Created in 2020, the EOSC Association comprises over 250 members and observers, and brings together experts through Task Forces and Opportunity Area Expert Groups to represent diverse stakeholders and work on specific themes. Within the EOSC-A, the Board of Directors builds and implements the strategy, represents the organisation in meetings with the European Commission and Member States, and directly participates in operations and decision-making processes. Drawing on her experiences as Director of the Bio-Hub of Euro-BioImaging ERIC and as outgoing Chair of the ERIC Forum, Antje Keppler will connect community priorities with European-level decision-making and ensure that the European research infrastructure perspective is firmly embedded in EOSC’s next phase.
“For more than 15 years, I have worked to build and operate European research infrastructures, advancing open and collaborative science across borders,” says Antje Keppler. “I have had the privilege of fostering European collaborations at the intersection of research infrastructures, data, and policy — precisely the ecosystem that underpins the success of EOSC. I will bring this experience to the table in my new role on the EOSC-A Board of Directors”
Building the future of open data
Indeed, this election comes at a pivotal moment for EOSC. The first operational EOSC Federation is emerging, with thirteen Nodes and the EOSC EU Node, already demonstrating tangible scientific use cases and cross-Nodes federating capabilities. In parallel, governance and sustainability of the EOSC remain key challenges. For the next three years, Antje Keppler will contribute her vast experience to help navigate these issues and shape the future of open data and science for the benefit of the European and Global research ecosystem.
