Summary

About Us

The About Us section provides a bird’s eye view of Euro-BioImaging and our activities. Our infrastructure-at-a-glance diagram provides a geographic overview with our key numbers, while our 2022 timeline recaps the major milestones of the year. Along with the Achievements graphic, this section provides a good summary of our activities. But don’t stop there - the spotlight on Euro-BioImaging’s Governance and Hub team members will provide valuable insight into how we work to ensure the success of our infrastructure.

Core Services

In our third year of operations, we continued to go above and beyond the goals we set for ourselves in our first Strategic Plan. In line with our mission of providing open access to imaging instrumentation, in this first ‘post-pandemic’ year of operations, we saw a 40% increase in user projects, including an increased level of transnational user requests. We celebrate this success and present an overview of our users’ scientific domains in this section. We also report on the expansion & reorganization of our technology portfolio and describe our pioneering image data services.

EU-Funded Projects

With funded projects we are fulfilling our mission within the European Research Area and collaborating with our partners on many important topics from access to services and AI, to sensitive data and technology development. In this regard, 2022 was nothing short of spectacular. Read our Annual Report to get a feel for the spectrum of activities we undertake in EU-funded projects and learn how these projects benefit our stakeholders and community.

Excellent science

Through the excellent technologies and expertise provided by our Nodes, Euro-BioImaging users are able to delve deep into their research topics - including the secrets of infections, human brain function, parasitic life cycles, exploring cells and tissues, or actively advancing marine life detection and providing imaging biomarkers for testing new therapies. We share some of these user stories in the Excellent Science section of our Annual Report.

From our Nodes

In 2022, we were delighted to welcome new members into our Node family, with the inclusion of new Nodes from Slovenia and the UK, and three Node upgrades. In this Annual Report, we present short descriptions of each of our 35 Nodes - and share selected highlights, quotes and snapshots from our growing family.

Stakeholders & Outreach

Euro-BioImaging is involved in a number of activities that bring added-value for research, innovation, and technology and strengthen the overall competitiveness of the European Research Area. The Annual Report shares some of the ways in which we interact with our stakeholders, including conferences, meetings and events we organized or attended. We truly enjoyed meeting with our key stakeholders in-person this year. This section also includes new graphics to capture the Euro-BioImaging stakeholder network in all its complexity.

Acknowledgements

We want to thank all of those who contributed to the conceptualization of this Annual Report. A huge thanks to our designer, Solveig Eriksson, who implemented a brilliant new design this year and really brought our story to life. Thanks to all of those who contributed from the Nodes, the Euro-BioImaging Industry Board and beyond. What an exciting year!
