Open Call: Exploit Large Scientific Datasets with AI and HPC through RI-SCALE

The European RI-SCALE project has launched an Open Call for Use Cases, inviting research teams, research infrastructures and companies to explore how AI and high-performance computing (HPC) can unlock the potential of large scientific datasets.

Euro-BioImaging is a partner in RI-SCALE, a European project working to make research infrastructure data, services and technologies more accessible for industrial and research innovation. Through this open call, participants can develop and test use cases that combine scientific data, AI tools and advanced computing resources to address real-world challenges.

What can you do through RI-SCALE?

The open call provides an opportunity to explore how large scientific datasets can be exploited using AI and HPC, with support from the RI-SCALE consortium. Proposed use cases may involve developing or validating AI models, processing large volumes of data, or integrating scientific datasets into advanced computational workflows.

For the biological and biomedical imaging community, this could include developing image-analysis methods, training and evaluating AI models on large imaging datasets, or exploring computational approaches that would otherwise be difficult to implement due to data volumes or computing requirements.

RI-SCALE brings together research infrastructures and technology providers to help participants identify suitable resources and develop practical pilot use cases.

Who can apply?

The call is relevant to organisations and teams that want to make better use of scientific data through AI and advanced computing, including:

  • Research teams seeking to apply AI to large scientific datasets.
  • AI and technology developers looking to test or validate their tools using research infrastructure data.
  • Startups and companies (SMEs) interested in developing data-driven solutions and exploring scientific datasets for innovation.
  • Research infrastructures and data providers interested in enabling new applications of their data and services.

Applicants should present a clear use case, explain the scientific or technical challenge they want to address, and describe how AI, HPC or research infrastructure resources could help.

How to apply

Interested organisations can find the call requirements, application process and further details on the RI-SCALE website.

Euro-BioImaging encourages members of the biological and biomedical imaging community to explore this opportunity to apply AI and advanced computing to scientific data and workflows.

Join this online webinar on 4 November, 14:00-15:00 CET, to learn more about the ongoing open call, the resources available through RI-SCALE, and how to submit a use case.
