Published December 19, 2025

Location: Turku, Finland (Euro-BioImaging ERIC Statutory Seat)
Full-time position | Fixed term until 30 April 2028 | Gross Salary: €3,500–€5,000/month

Be at the centre of a flagship European innovation effort

Join a cutting-edge European Research Infrastructure at the forefront of imaging-enabled science and innovation. Euro-BioImaging ERIC is seeking an experienced and proactive Scientific Project Manager to coordinate the EU-funded RE-IMAGINE-CROPS project, an ambitious EIC Pathfinder initiative developing breakthrough imaging technology to support more sustainable agriculture.

About Euro-BioImaging ERIC

Euro-BioImaging ERIC is the pan-European research infrastructure for biological and biomedical imaging. We offer open access to over 120 imaging technologies and services through a distributed network of 39 Nodes and 295 facilities in 18 countries and EMBL. Our mission is to enable excellent, innovative science through open access to imaging and data services, and training.

About the RE-IMAGINE-CROPS Project

RE-IMAGINE-CROPS is a Horizon Europe EIC Pathfinder Open project funded by the European Union, with a total budget of €3 million.
Over three years, the project will develop the first real-time, in-field, portable multimodal imaging technology combining:

  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to quantify metabolic processes at micrometre-scale precision
  • Multiphoton Endoscopy (ME) for real-time cellular analysis

This novel imaging solution aims to transform how nitrogen uptake is monitored in crops, addressing one of agriculture’s most pressing sustainability challenges: the overuse of nitrogen fertilisers. The Euro-BioImaging–coordinated consortium includes nine partners combining expertise in imaging technology, plant science, data analysis, and innovation.

Your Role

You will be based at the Euro-BioImaging Headquarters in Turku and act as the Project Manager for the RE-IMAGINE-CROPS project. You will report to the Director General of Euro-BioImaging ERIC and work closely with the scientific coordinator, consortium partners, and the Euro-BioImaging team. You will ensure the smooth implementation of the project in line with project objectives, timelines, and requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive the successful implementation of a high-impact EIC Pathfinder project.
  • Coordinate a multidisciplinary, international consortium.
  • Ensure high-quality project management, reporting, and compliance with grant rules.

  • Organise and support consortium meetings, reviews, and governance processes.
  • Monitor milestones, deliverables, and risks; proactively address deviations.
  • Coordinate periodic and final reporting to the European Commission, ensuring quality, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Support dissemination, communication, and exploitation activities in collaboration with partners and Euro-BioImaging team.
  • Act as a liaison between Euro-BioImaging, the consortium, and external stakeholders.
  • Seek funding opportunities and drive collaborative endeavors.
  • Champion Euro-BioImaging's mission both nationally and internationally.

Skills & Experience

Required

  • PhD in life sciences, physics, engineering or other relevant imaging-related field.
  • Candidates with an MSc and substantial, directly relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in scientific project management, preferably in EU-funded projects.
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills and a structured work approach, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and workflows.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a distributed team.
  • Ability to handle basic software packages (Microsoft Office and Google Workspace) and administration tools
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of advanced imaging, open science, and FAIR data management would be regarded as an advantage.
  • Strong interest in imaging, microscopy, the biomedical field and life sciences.
  • A keen eye for identifying funding and grant opportunities.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time, fixed-term contract until the end of the project, 30 April 2028 (renewal subject to funding availability).
  • Gross Salary range: €3,500–€5,000/month, based on experience and qualifications.
  • The primary place of work is the Euro-BioImaging ERIC Headquarters office in Turku, Finland. Limited hybrid work is possible.
  • 6-month probation period.
  • Some international travel is required.
