On October 27 & 28, 2025, the entire Dutch microscopy community gathered in Groningen for the first edition of the Dutch Microscopy Days. This landmark event was jointly organised by two major national microscopy consortia (one of which NL-BioImaging) and the Dutch Society for Microscopy, marking a significant step towards greater collaboration and knowledge exchange within our field.

The agenda was packed with highlights, including updates on the progress of ongoing projects, inspiring keynote speakers, important news from the board of the Dutch Society for Microscopy (NVvM), and the presentation of the 2026 microscopy calendar, a must-have on every microscopist’s desk!
Day 1 focused on Electron Microscopy, while Day 2 shifted attention to Light Microscopy. Nearly 200 participants attended, reflecting the strong interest and engagement across the community. There was strong participation from industry too, both in the audience and directly supporting the event as sponsors. And the EuroBioImaging banner was, of course, well on display!

Beyond the scientific sessions, there were plenty of opportunities for social interaction and community building, making the event feel like one big family reunion.

The success of this first edition has energized us for the future. Planning is already underway for next year’s meeting, which will take place in Maastricht in November 2026. We warmly invite everyone to join us as we continue to strengthen and grow our vibrant microscopy community!
