We are delighted to welcome France Life Imaging Nodeto Euro-Bioimaging. After approval by the Euro-BioImaging Board in December 2025, the France Life Imaging Node is now ready to provide services via the Euro-BioImaging Web Portal. As a distributed national research infrastructure, coordinated by the CEA, FLI comprises 44 medical imaging platforms and over 160 in vivo imaging systems, reinforcing the Euro-BioImaging technology portfolio. FLI does not only provide access to innovative or even unique imaging systems, but also supplies a methodological expertise in all imaging fields and has a unique, production-level infrastructure for multicenter image harmonisation, traceability and analysis, which is essential for preclinical and clinical studies. As part of Euro-BioImaging, FLI will meet increasing demand for high-end translational imaging and open the door to new users by introducing a unique biomedical imaging capability in France.
Bringing together leading laboratories and platforms, the experts at France Life Imaging support preclinical, clinical and translational research by offering access to all major in vivo imaging modalities, including MRI (from 0.5T to 7T for clinical research; from 4.7T to 11.7T for preclinical imaging), PET, SPECT, CT, micro-CT, ultrasound, optical and opto-acoustic modalities, and MEG.
Additionally, the transversal “Information Analysis and Management” hub facilitates the access and reuse of imaging data, to store, manage and process large preclinical and clinical imaging data sets and associated metadata.
“Joining Euro-BioImaging is a fantastic opportunity for France Life Imaging to collaborate with major European imaging facilities for biomedical research,” says Régine Trébossen, coordinator of FLI. “Euro-BioImaging is a very successful facilitator, and FLI’s membership is going to increase its visibility in an international context. The resulting cooperations will entail numerous opportunities for prestigious research projects with partners all across Europe, advancing biomedical research with a strong societal impact.”
Supporting biomedical and translational research
The Node plays a key role in advancing research in areas of high societal impact, namely neurology, psychiatry, cardiometabolism, oncology, neuromuscular as well as inflammatory, immune, and infectious diseases.
Its technologies are widely used in preclinical studies, helping to bridge the gap between fundamental research and clinical applications.
A coordinated national infrastructure
France Life Imaging operates as a coordinated network of imaging platforms distributed across France. This structure ensures that users can access high-level expertise and technologies, while benefiting from shared standards, training and collaborative innovation.
As part of the Euro-BioImaging infrastructure, the Node contributes to a Europe-wide ecosystem of imaging facilities, promoting open access, knowledge exchange, and scientific excellence.
“Euro-BioImaging is a very successful facilitator, and FLI’s membership is going to increase its visibility in an international context. The resulting cooperations will entail numerous opportunities for prestigious research projects with partners all across Europe, advancing biomedical research with a strong societal impact.”
