From Complexity to Clarity: Automated Spatial Biology Workflows Powered by AI

Published May 25, 2026

Spatial transcriptomics is rapidly transforming the way researchers study complex biological systems. To explore the latest developments in this fast-moving field, Euro-BioImaging is organising a Special Edition Virtual Pub dedicated to Spatial Transcriptomics on Friday, June 12, from 13:00–15:00 CEST. The event will bring together experts from academia and industry to showcase cutting-edge spatial omics technologies, innovative workflows, and emerging applications.

At this event, Shaghayegh (Sherry) Derakhshani, Carl Zeiss Microscopy, will share his work combining advanced high-resolution microscopy with novel approaches from the field of DNA Nanotechnology to push the limits of light microscopy for cell-biological research applications.

Like all Euro-BioImaging Virtual Pubs, this online event offers an open forum for the imaging community to exchange ideas, discover new technologies, and discuss practical applications with experts from across disciplines.

Abstract

From Complexity to Clarity: Automated Spatial Biology Workflows Powered by AI

By: Shaghayegh (Sherry) Derakhshani

Spatial biology is rapidly moving from exploratory research into scalable translational and clinical applications, creating growing demands for reproducible, automated, and easy-to-use workflows. In this presentation, ZEISS will showcase an integrated end-to-end spatial biology solution designed to simplify multiplex imaging workflows while enabling high-throughput and high-quality data generation at scale. The workflow combines flexible multiplex immunofluorescence assay compatibility, automated imaging with ZEISS Axioscan 7 spatial biology, streamlined workflow management, and AI-powered image analysis with PhenoScout AI. Together, these technologies reduce hands-on time, improve reproducibility, and accelerate a direct path from sample to clear actionable insights. Attendees will gain insights into how automation, scalable imaging, and AI-driven analysis can help laboratories and organizations streamline operations, enhance consistency, and unlock the full potential of spatial biology across research, biotech and pharma, and translational applications.
